ID: [A person with shoulder length brown hair. Text in front of them reads “Hi again!”. The video changes to show them pointing to more text on screen that reads “A lot of you have been asking me how I got top surgery covered when I’m not trans masc or on hormones”. They point again to more text that reads “Its because WPATH standards of care says a diagnosis of gender dysphoria is valid enough reason to need top surgery without HRT and most insurances use this as a guide”.
Another change where they are holding their foot upside down with text above reading “I want to share this amazing resource with folks - its how I got two therapist letters diagnosising my dysphoria FOR FREE”. The video changes to a laptop screen with the text “Thegalap.org”.
The website loads and more text on screen reads “These therapists have pledged to write low cost and free letters to trans folks to get rid of some of the stress and lame gatekeeping we have to deal with when getting our nexessary precedures covered. They are all around the country and will see you remotely, usually over the phone or video.”. athe cideo cuts to the same person, this time giving a thumbs up.
Text reads “It was a pain free, validating process and my insurance accepted both letters no questions asked! Good luck!!! You’re valid!]
havent seen a post like this, but happy pride month to everyone who doesnt have a label. happy pride month to everyone who doesnt have a flag. happy pride month to people using microlabels and/or neopronouns. happy pride month to aro people in relationships of any kind. happy pride month to nonbinary people who have to use binary pronouns in their native language. happy pride month to people genuinely angry at commercialization of queer places wishing people all the best while not celebrating themselves. happy pride month to asexual people who are tired and angry of being infantilized. happy pride month to angry queers. you can celebrate pride month in your own way, aggressive or peaceful, and theres nothing wrong about that. i love you.
I’ve been working on this post on and off for the last few months. I always intended to post it during Pride Month, and hey, here we are. I’ve got a lot going on in my life right now, so this might be the last book rec post for quite a while.
When possible, I’m linking to the Queer SFF Book Database since it has information on trigger warnings and links to reviews by queer readers. When not in the database of 6/15/20, I’ll be linking to Goodreads. Links are all below the cut.
Do not recommend cis authors on this post. This post is for centering trans and nonbinary authors. Please note that trans people write all sorts of stories and protagonists, and these books don’t automatically have trans or queer protagonists.
My master list of book rec posts is here, if you want to find more.
If you’re looking for a starting place on trans SFF, I strongly suggest the Transcendent anthology series as an overview. It’ll introduce you to a wide array of incredible stories from trans and nonbinary authors.
This list does not cover all of the amazing trans and nonbinary authors writing science fiction and fantasy! There are many more, and please feel free to suggest them here.
If you see any exclusionists or TERFs on this post, let me know without engaging and I will block them ASAP. I would prefer to keep this post a safe, positive place for trans readers.
If I might add one?
For fans of superheroes.
Avalon Knight: The Gentleman’s Club by N.T. Herrgott
It’s got a transgender ftm teenage superhero main character and it’s cool and I like it
Do you know if the author is trans? I’m really trying to keep this list focused on trans and non-binary creators.
I believe they’re non binary. Hence the use of initials. They go by either they/them or he/him.
Thanks! Just wanted to keep this post on topic.
i’ve literally only ever seen one post that even mentioned people like me, and that post was made by a shithead, so i’m making my own lol
